OVERVIEW OF PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 

Kerry David is an accomplished Film, TV & Documentary Producer, and more recently crowdfunding specialist.  She's experienced in both the creative and business side of filmmaking from locating & optioning properties, attaching key creative elements, securing financing, distribution and marketing entities, and ultimately producing the projects. Kerry's particular style of filmmaking comes from her experience in producing large and small scale productions & events, from unknown talents embarking out on their careers, to Drew Barrymore, Tom Cruise & Nicole Kidman.  She is deeply knowledgeably about the entertainment industry having spent over 20 years navigating its twists and turns. Kerry's multiple projects in film, TV & documentaries have garnered over multiple awards for her producing talents and amassed an impressive box office on projects totaling in excess of $150 million and counting. Projects such as Agent Cody Banks, Agent Cody Banks: Destination London, Perfect Romance, Like Dandelion Dust, Perfect Match and award winning documentaries;"Seeking Happily Ever After", "My Date with Drew" and "Making Miles:The Miles Davis Story". In addition Kerry produced expert videos "Short Game Golf with Jim Furyk & Fred Funk", and "The Usual Suspects: Deposing the Usual Suspects" and produced several videos to promote awareness and fundraising efforts for the African orphanage; BBSCF.

She has effectively handled business and personal affairs for two of America’s finest actors (Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman) and successfully launched a global, social networking website for filmmakers www.indieproducer.net which she built up to a subscriber base that reached 80,000 filmmakers, in 111 countries and later sold to the Vail Film Festival.   

As Founder & CEO of IndieProducer.net, Kerry produced & hosted multiple award shows, industry networking events, eight global Short Film Contests, eight worldwide Screenwriting Contests resulting in several submissions for Oscar consideration.  She created the 'Outstanding Achievement in Film" award annually, and honored Jon Favreau, Andy Garcia, Michael Rappaport and Bill Paxton.  


On the speaking circuit, she has spoken at multiple schools, festivals, colleges and writing groups around North America including Pepperdine University, UCLA, USC, Los Angeles Film School, New York Film Academy to name a few. Her passion is in educating and encouraging new and emerging filmmakers.

Motion Picture/Television: Experience includes identifying, developing and producing multiple award-winning features, documentaries and educational programming.  Emphasis on production, creative writing, with a strong hand in marketing and advertising motion picture properties.  Negotiating agreements include optioning material, and securing talent.

Crowdfunding:  
KDC&Films has collectively raised over $500,000 through crowdfunding campaigns for projects as diverse as musicals to non-profit endeavors.  On each fully disclosed project KDC & Films surpassed the stated goals and trended on each raise in both category and #1 site-wide, even landing a place on Indiegogo's coveted newsletter.

Over And Above Africa (O&AA) is a subscription service, with one mission: to connect a global community to help end poaching in Africa through micro-financing of fully transparent philanthropy. 

The profits collected from monthly member subscriptions are used to fund proven and effective anti-poaching initiatives and conservation efforts in Africa. What makes Over And Above Africa unique is that these projects are then filmed and broadcast back to the Over and Above Africa platform for members to literally SEE and EXPERIENCE their funds in action #AffordablePhilanthropy.

Musical Village for Orphans, Ghana, West Africa - 2010 - 2013
CEO/CFO  
As CEO in charge of building a unique musical village for orphans, Kerry oversaw the creation of the village, from inception to completion and was charged with the designing and construction of the village.  Working with architects, Perkins & Will & James Ayando of Habitat For Humanity she designed a modern, eco friendly orphanage for 30 orphans able to expand as the demand requireed, and to eventually hold up to 100 children.  Over several trips to Ghana, she scouted and negotiated for the land, liaised with the tribal chiefs and hired a team of talented staff in Africa to see the village through to completion. Kerry worked with the kind people at Generosity Water to secure the donation of a clean water well, and implemented a hot meals program. She budgeted every phase of the design, and created a sustainable monthly budget to run the orphanage.  During her term; she saw that every child in her charge had medical attention, implemented a daily vitamin and supplement regiment and hot meal program.  She worked diligently with the legal & governmental channels within Ghana to ensure that all local laws were upheld and that the children were properly adopted into the orphanage.

Optioned, developed, wrote, produced, marketed and secured distribution for projects under the Lucky Crow Films banner.  Additionally, Kerry budgeted, negotiated, hired cast, crewed up, scouted, raised financing and promoted multiple projects for Lucky Crow Films. 

INDIEPRODUCER.NET, Sherman Oaks, CA - 2000 - 2010
Founder/CEO            

Launched a global social networking site for new and emerging filmmakers and film enthusiasts. Created quarterly networking events, annual short film and screenwriting contests, awards galas, access to the entertainment job market, crew & casting notices, resumes, industry events, links and interviews.


iP provided information, resources, entertainment news, interviews, education, and networking opportunities (IP Schmoozefests) that connected filmmakers with established working professionals. iP held annual, worldwide Screenwriting Contests and Short Film Contests (three of IP’s winning short films went on to become Oscar nominated shorts). IP's Screenwriting Contest was the first independent screenwriting contest to be sponsored and endorsed by the Writers Guild of America, west.  

Indieproducer.net was named “One of the Top 50 Best Sites for Filmmakers 2009” by MovieMaker Magazine. Sold iP to the Sold to the Vail Film Festival in 2010.

Executive Assistant to Nicole Kidman & Tom Cruise 1996-1999
Spent three years working for, and traveling with, Nicole Kidman & Tom Cruise on multiple projects.
  • Due to confidentiality terms, many of Kerry's responsibilities while working with Nicole and Tom remain private.  However, the films she worked on while with Tom and Nicole included: Portrait of a Lady, Peacemaker, Practical Magic, The Blue Room, Without Limits, Mission Impossible: 2 and Eyes Wide Shut, 

PARAMOUNT PICTURES, Hollywood, CA            
Business Affairs  
  • Spent 2 ½ years learning the contract side of filmmaking and studying the deals that Paramount Pictures made with outside entities such as production companies, A-list writers, A-list directors, A-List actors and producers for their services.  During this period Paramount Pictures made such films as Forest Gump and Sherry Lansing was the Chairwoman.

SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS & MENTORSHIP PROGRAMS, Los Angeles, CA                                   
Kerry David has been a guest speaker, panelist, and moderator at film festivals and film summits all over the world.   She has spoken at colleges, schools and writing groups to encourage and support new and emerging filmmakers, including, but not limited to Pepperdine University, Los Angeles Film School, The New York Film Academy, USC, UCLA. 

​She is a member of the PGA (Producers Guild of America) and BAFTA (British Academy of Film & Television), and has mentored three women for the Step Up Program in Los Angeles.  Kerry has won over sixty-five awards for producing her film and television projects including a Telly Award for Excellence in Educational Programming.
